Vizio Brings Flat-Panel HDTV to the Masses
CES Special Report: January 8, 2006

Vizio L32 LCD HDTV
Vizio brings its line of flat-screen TVs up to half a dozen with the introduction of three new HDTV models with built-in ATSC tuners. (Previous models lacked the HDTV tuner.) The P55, the company's new flagship, is a 55-inch 1,366 x 768 plasma display coming in September for about, $3,000. The P42 42-inch plasma with the same resolution has all the bells and whistles, including a digital cable tuner and HDMI inputs. I will arrive in March at a price of $1,800. The real bargain is the new L32 32-inch widescreen LCD HDTV, also with 1,366 x 768 resolution, digital cable tuner, and HDMI input, available in March for $1,000. Considering that Vizio sells through major discounters such as Costco and Sam's Club, expect street prices to be at least $100 less than those quoted above. All prices include a one-year on-site warranty.
