As the only third-party developer licensed for MLB, 2K Sports toes the rubber with
Major League Baseball 2K6. The sim is sophisticated; 2K6's Inside Edge system incorporates three seasons' worth of scouting data into each player's tendencies and performance. During a fierce game, you'll be tempted to hail a passing beverage vendor patroling the 3D-modeled crowd. Gameplay highlights include the Swing Stick (an intimate analog-stick batting interface) and the commentating of Jon Miller and Joe Morgan. But minor A.I. glitches, occasional controller imprecision, and sluggish fielding prevent All-Star status.
