New Release (Cooking Vinyl)
By now it’s official that Electric is always going to be the Cult’s best album. But this is their strongest in decades, mainly because it’s the one that sounds the most like Electric. Even sounds at times like Ian Astbury has grown a sense of humor, with the single “For the Animals” displaying a loose, Stones-y swagger. Doesn’t hurt that the songs are all kept relatively short, and there aren’t a lot of keyboards to crowd out Billy Duffy’s riff-slinging.
