New Release (Legacy)
This is a little too diverse to be the commercial comeback it’s aiming for; with unlikely duets (Snoop Dogg), mainstream rock covers (Eddie Vedder, Coldplay) and a bunch of his son Lukas’ songs; plus an opener (“A Horse Called Music”) that was already a title track in 1989. But as a late-life reflection on mortality, I‘ll take Willie’s “Roll Me Up (& Smoke Me When I Die)” over Johnny Cash covering Nine Inch Nails any day.
