Carrie Underwood’s image on the CD cover is newly grown-up but heavily airbrushed, and the music is the same way, with some of the heaviest Auto-Tune ever heard on a country record. Rootsy it isn’t, but it’s so calculated for mass appeal that you have to get pulled along. And you have to love the chutzpah of her doing a song called “Thank God for Hometowns,” swearing that going home is better than hitting it big, at this point in her career.
