New Release (Rounder)
The post-Lowell George (now also post-Richie Hayward ) Little Feat tends to get a bad rap; but the sound and spirit of their best latter-day albums (including this one) isn’t all that far from the Dixie Chicken days. Their Rounder debut has more a country/folk vibe than usual, with mandolin in the mix and Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter getting a few credits. But a good half-dozen funky, slide-guitar rockers quite successfully revive the vintage sound.
