One way to raise hip kids is to play them albums like this, which features science-themed children’s songs from an indie-rock perspective. Which means, of course, that someone had to cover Guided by Voices’ “I Am a Scientist” and Mates of State do it nicely, making it sweeter and softer than the original. Other nice moments come from Laura Veirs (waxing poetic about geology) and folk duo the Nields (as butterflies complaining that you never notice them flying by).
