America demonstrated great taste in cover songs as far back as 1972, when it put John Martyn’s “Head & Heart” on Homecoming. So this all-covers album boasts some non-obvious choices (Fountains of Wayne, Gin Blossoms, solo Mark Knopfler) along with selections from the expected soft-rock crew (Neil, James, Joni). Vocals are quite fine throughout. (P.S. Today, America remains Dewey Bunnell, above left, and Gerry Beckley.
