If you love traditional prog and could never quite warm to the Mars Volta, this spinoff band (with MV singer Cedric Bixler Zavala and Triclops guitarist Christian Eric Beaulieu) is likely to be more up your alley. Start with a strong dose of melody, add a thunderous rhythm section and top with Eastern-styled acoustic guitar that recalls John McLaughlin in Shakti. And having Mike Watt on bass surely doesn’t hurt.
