Say hello to a long overdue Blu-ray. After numerous DVD releases Universal has finally gotten around to releasing Brian De Palma’s classic about a Cuban drug lord (Al Pacino) and his rise and fall in America in HD. While it’s sometimes compared to The Godfather and Goodfellas, it’s more of a raunchy, hypnotic blood-soaked cartoon than anything else. The transfer is as sharp as this film will ever get and the 7.1 DTS-HD MA sound is absolutely insane and will put your system to the test. Universal includes a few in-movie U-Control options — a picture-in-picture commentary of sorts and a humorous f-word tracker — as well as a 3-part documentary and all the legacy special features. It comes packaged in a nifty “Steelbook” case and is a film collector’s necessity, even if you aren’t scheduled to appear on MTV Cribs.
Video: 1080p 2.35:1; Audio: 7.1 DTS-HD MA; Special Features: U-Control picture-in-picture experience, Scarface (1932 version), "Scarface Scoreboard" keeps track of the f-word and bullets as you watch, "The Scarface Phenomenon" 3-part documentary "The World of Tony Montana, "The Creating," "The Rebirth," "The Acting," "Scarface: The TV Version" featurette, "The Making of Scarface: The World Is Yours" (2006 videogame), deleted scenes, BD-Live enabled, digital copy of the film, 10 Grand Prize-winning design art cards, digital copy of the film.
