The Autobots and Decepticons are at it yet again, fighting over a weapon that could enslave every human on earth. Michael Bay’s third Transformers ditches the goofiness and focuses on non-stop action, eye-blasting effects and conspiracy-laden plot points (i.e. the original moon landing was just a mission to investigate a crashed spaceship). However, Bay really needs to learn how to quit when he’s ahead, because the two-and-a-half hour running time of this metallic orgy takes it toll. The good news is this time at least he hired some actors to upstage the robots, including Frances McDormand as a no-nonsense CIA operative, John Malkovich as an off-beat titan of industry, and Patrick Dempsey as a smug traitor. Shia LaBeouf keeps things on track and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley provides enough sex appeal to help us get over Megan Fox. While the audio and video are technological wonders, this release is as bare bones as a Blu-ray can get, offering just the film while they ready the fully-loaded 3D special edition for release in the near future.
