Captain America’s impressive solo effort rockets him ahead of all the other Avengers not named Tony Stark. Rather than grounding this in reality (like Thor or The Incredible Hulk), Captain America plays like a classic war film made for modern audiences. Chris Evans embodies Steve Rogers, a 98-pound weakling who transforms into the ultimate super soldier to battle Nazis. Tommy Lee Jones was put on this earth to play Colonel Chester Phillips and Hugo Weaving is vicious as Red Skull. Even though there’s a lot of Marvel Universe crossover (and a few hidden gems foreshadowing the upcomingAvengers film), this, like the first Iron Man, is its own movie. It looks and sounds outstanding on Blu-ray, includes four formats (Blu-ray, 3D, DVD, and digital) and adds a haul of special features that’ll make you proud he’s fighting for our team.
