It’s hard out there for a pimp — and even harder inside. In director Jim Jarmusch’s follow-up to his first hit, Stranger Than Paradise, two more of his low-life loner-loser misfits — wannabe ladies’ man John Lurie and unemployed disc jockey/thief Tom Waits — share a Louisiana prison cell with a smart, motor-mouthed Italian tourist (Roberto Benigni) until they all accidentally escape to wander aimlessly around the backwoods. The film features Robby Müller’s high-contrast black-and-white cinematography and the set comes with a great collection of extras including Waits’ inimitably demented music video of Cole Porter’s “It's All Right with Me,” directed by Jarmusch.
