In director Nicolas Winding Refn’s film (based on the book by James Sallis), Ryan Gosling (Half Nelson, Blue Valentine) is Drive, Hollywood stuntman by day, getaway wheelman for criminals by night. On falling for his cute neighbor (Carey Mulligan), he makes an out-of-character offer to help her ex-con boyfriend, who has gotten himself involved with some really bad guys. He wanders into a heist job, which of course goes seriously sideways, and Drive finds himself with a price tag on his head. Despite the film's small budget, Winding Refn manages to stylishly stage the taught, violent, thrilling action sequences, and the cast (including Bryan Cranston, Albert Brooks, Ron Perlman, and Christina Hendricks) help create some of the most memorable modern-noir characters in recent memory. The Blu-ray comes with an AVC-encoded transfer and an in-depth, 30-minute interview with the director.
