This lesser-known late film (from 1974) from auteur Luchino Visconti (The Leopard, Death in Venice) tells of a retired professor (Burt Lancaster) who is forced to rent part of his luxurious palazzo in Rome to a marchesa (Silvana Mangano), her German gigolo (Helmut Berger), and extended family with chaos and destruction ensuing. The film, which was restored for this Blu-ray release, has costumes designed by Yves Saint Laurent.
