It seems odd that it’s taken this long to get a pirate RPG, but here we are in 2012 with Risen 2: Dark Waters. You continue the story of the unnamed hero from the first game, but now he’s a pirate (or, if you so choose, a mage). There isn’t a traditional class system: instead you customize yourself as you see fit. And, yes, you get your own boat and parrot, and you can swashbuckle to your heart’s content in a semi-open world. Oh, did I mention there’s voodoo? The pop-culture pirate fad might be over, but your fantasies don’t have to end because Johnny Depp and Disney say so.
