Headphone X isn't a headphone or an amp, it's a new surround virtualizer technology. DTS demoed it by playing channel ID announcements (i.e., "left channel," "right side surround channel," etc.) through an 11.1-channel speaker system, then playing the same announcements through Sennheiser HD 239 headphones. So uncanny was the simulation, I actually took the headphones off to make sure the speakers weren't playing. Existing headphone virtualizers such as Dolby Headphone don't simulate a center speaker well for me, but through Headphone X, it really sounded like there was a speaker sitting several feet right in front of me. DTS had no announcements to make about licensing deals, but presumably we could see this incorporated into A/V receivers, Blu-ray players, and perhaps even smartphones.
