Jolida’s FX10 proves Huey Lewis right — it is hip to be square. This 7 x 8 x 7-inch integrated amp pairs two 12AX7 tubes with two matched pairs of EL84s to pump out 10 watts to each of its two channels. Adding to the cool quotient are LEDs that bathe the tubes in a blue glow, especially in a dark room. The unit, which has a removable glass cage, is offered in silver, black or blue powder-coat finishes. Connections are made via two rear-mounted analog inputs (CD and Aux), or via a front mini-plug jack that can be used to connect an iPod or other player. Also on the rear are gold-plated binding posts for speakers (both 4- and 8-ohm taps), and a detachable power cord for those who get a buzz from upgrading to one that costs more than the amp itself. The unit is self-biasing, so tube-roll other-brand EL84s to your heart’s content.
