
The Cruise from Furutech promises to do for portable headphone amps what the iMac did for computers. Most headphone amps are built into extruded aluminum chassis; they’re about as sexy as the lab gear I use to measure speakers. But the $540 Cruise wraps its amp circuitry and USB-fed 24/96 digital-to-analog converter in a sleek, sculpted carbon-fiber enclosure. A rechargeable battery is built in.
