Samsung’s F8500 premium TV (mindful of the popular bias against plasma tech, Samsung is now apparently calling it “premium TV”) will be another top contender from the company in 2013. F8500 sets have a futuristic look, and Samsung says they deliver the same brightness and “eight times the black expression” (whatever that means) as the company’s LCD models. There’s also native support for HEVC-encoded content (a feature presumably intended for future streamed 4K content). The F8500 line also provides the same Smart Hub features found in the company high-end LCDs, minus the built-in cams.
51-, 60-, and 64-inch; available March; pricing TBA.
