Rega’s earned a rep for making products that fight outside their weight class, and this entry-level turntable is no exception. By sticking to the basics (such as manual speed changes and Rega’s RB1012 tonearm) and spending on high-quality components (such as a phenolic resin platter and an ultra-low-vibration motor), Rega delivers performance that belies its price. This model, offered in gray, white or titanium finishes, comes with a pre-fitted and aligned Ortofon OM5E moving-magnet cartridge. If you have an extra $200 to burn, consider an optional performance pack version that includes the turntable plus a better Rega Bias 2 cartridge, an upgraded drive belt (for better accuracy and stability), and a natural wool turntable mat that’s usually included with the step-up P3, P5, and P7 models.
