DefTech earned its rep with big tower speakers, but its first new bookshelf speakers in almost 10 years may—well, no, they won’t change that perception, but they did sound really good for the money. Prices run from $199 each for the SM45 with a 5.25-inch woofer to $399 each for the SM65 with dual 5.25-inchers. The SM55 and SM65 pump up the bass with top-mounted passive radiators. A quick listen to the SM55 with a great reggae track from the band Slightly Stoopid suggested that the new StudioMonitors can really kick, with or without a sub.

Brent,
I've been reading the various soundbar reviews on this site trying to decide between a few different soundbars. I'm at a loss though on and need some expert advice.
I was debating between the ZVOX 580 and the BA TVee 30. Then I found comments for the upcoming PowerBar 235.
I'm no audiophile, and cost is a factor. However, I'm willing to spend a bit more on to get quality and a good user experience. That being said, I don't know which of these 3 is my best option. I'm using mainly for movies and tv, though will likely listen to some audio CDs (or my wife will).
The ZVOX cost is half that of the PowerBar, though the PowerBar is "higher end". The BA is a bit more than the ZVOX, but I've read poor reviews regarding customer service. Any recommendations or guidance?
Much appreciated.
Thanks,
--Hummad
