B.M.C. is a new German brand that boasts some of the most appealing industrial design I saw at RMAF. The meter on the front of the $7,790-each M1 monoblock amp shows the output level, while the numeric display shows the volume setting. A proprietary digital interface between the B.M.C. digital-to-analog converter/preamp and the amplifier allows the DAC/preamp to control volume by adjusting the output voltage of the amplifier, rather than by adjusting the voltage level of the audio signal as most preamps do. At least, that’s what I gathered from the charmingly fractured English of the company’s promotional material.
