MartinLogan’s new SLM on-wall speakers incorporate the Folded Motion ribbon tweeter found in the company’s great ElectroMotion speakers. You can see two of them flanking the TV, but what I’m most excited about is the new SLM soundbar. The soundbar’s design is still being worked out, but the basic concept is three FM tweeters, four cone midrange drivers, and a wireless transmitter that works with any of MartinLogan’s Dynamo subwoofers. No surround speakers — instead, the surround effect will be created by a virtualizer. The unit will be internally powered, and for now has Toslink and analog inputs. Price should be $1,300 to $1,400 when the new soundbar debuts this summer.
