Engage is a new consumer brand headed by Mike Fidler, longtime Pioneer and Sony veteran. The company’s first product is the Unity, an all-in-one TV sound system that combines a soundbar, a subwoofer, a 3D Blu-ray player and a TV stand. The base, pedestal, and top shelf/speaker all snap together, and all connections are made automatically when you assemble them. According to Fidler, setup takes 15 minutes and the only connection you have to make is an HDMI cable from your TV to the Unity. The shelf/speaker incorporates three 2-inch drivers (for left/center/right) and two downfiring 5.25-inch midbass drivers, while the pedestal holds dual 10-inch woofers. Wireless rear speakers provide true 5.1. A VESA TV mount is available to lift the TV off the base and provide space for two additional components, like a cable box or game system. Target price is $999 and target ship date is June.
