The AH-C710 is the successor to my beloved reference in-ear headphones, Denon’s AH-C751. The small leatherette case includes a clever tangle-minimizing plastic insert. Like Shure, Denon supplies a variety of foam and rubber tips. The shape of the buds is different than my AH-C751’s, and though they look like they’d hang uncomfortably out of your ears, they’re actually well balanced and extremely comfortable. This is mostly thanks to their light weight. Denon rates the single driver and its neodymium magnet at 5Hz to 25 kHz, with an output of 110 dB. Sound isolation is okay, though even the lesser-priced HiFiMan RE-Zero is better in this regard if that’s what you’re looking for.
There is a significant family sound resemblance between the 710s and the 751s. You can find more accurate in-ear headphones on the market (like the Shure and JH Audio models in this very test), but the Denon’s warm, bass-heavy sound is certainly pleasing. I’ll admit I prefer a warmer sound; if you don’t, these may not be for you. The cello and bass throughout Lisa Hannigan’s “I Don’t Know” from Sea Sew sounded much stronger with the 710 than with the other buds here. The Denon’s treble instrumentation and percussion were detailed, though the sound wasn’t as well balanced frequency-wise as some of the other ’phones.
Denon’s AH-C710 fits squarely in the high-value-for price category. It is definitely worth the extra money over the slew of cheap earbuds and headphones on the market.

The JH16 Pro would be a wonderful fit for me (literally) since I can never get in-ear buds to stay in my ears. The price is a little shocking, but as a woman in the 21st century I don’t like headphones that go over my head and give my hair that crinkle, go figure. Thanks again!
