The new IEMs from high-end audio cable specialist Cardas exhibit all the bling and build quality for which the company’s wires are known. Both the $325 Model 1 and the $425 Model 2 (shown here) employ Cardas’ “Golden Ratio” concept. According to the company, the driver is the same size as the average human eardrum, and the inner chamber is in the same Golden Ratio as the human cochlea. The Model 1employs a steel-frame driver, while the Model 2 uses a non-magnetic brass-frame driver. Model 2 is said to be less efficient but more refined-sounding — a claim I couldn’t verify because none of the supplied tips gave me a good seal. Hoping to try this one at a later date with tips of my choosing.
