We don’t often see high-end two-channel audio products debut at the CEDIA Expo, but the MyDAC digital-to-analog converter was a welcome exception. (This seemed to be its U.S. debut, anyway; it was shown at the Munich Hi-Fi Show in May.) Even the home-theater-obsessed crowds at the Expo were talking about the little $399 DAC, which is the first in the Micromega My line of mini components. The unit measures about 5.5 inches square, and includes coaxial, optical, and asynchronous USB digital inputs. The dial on the front selects standby mode or any of the three inputs. The MyDAC accepts signals up to 24-bit/192 kilohertz, and to the amazement of those who think the French don’t make anything but wine and cheese, the MyDAC is manufactured in France.
