Everyone remembers The Omen, right? Lucius is the 3D adventure game version of that. You play as Lucius, a young boy whose soul has been sold to Satan by a relative in exchange for more political power. Dark, right? It gets better (or, depending on how you look at it, worse). The devil wants his due, so he possesses Lucius on the evening of his sixth birthday and tasks him to kill everyone in the family mansion. One such mission requires Lucius to lock the maid in the walk-in freezer and turn the temperature knob down, turning her into a black-and-white ice cube. The catch is these deaths need to look like accidents so Lucius can continue his murderous rampage without anyone fingering him for the crimes. Later in the night, Satan comes to Lucius in a dream and tells him to go take the padlock off the freezer door and dispose of it.
While the story is black as sackcloth, a representative from the game’s publisher assured me there would be plenty of dark humor to keep the mood light. Whether it’s from the sometimes campy dialogue and schlocky voice acting or elsewhere remains to be seen, but I’m 100% on board.
