Tightwads and old-schoolers, rejoice: This venerable balance-type stylus gauge is not only still around, it will set you back a mere Jackson. Although not quite as accurate as a digital gauge (like the AcousTech unit we just looked at), this classic Shure gauge has probably helped more vinyl enthusiasts properly track their tonearms than any other single device. Another bonus: It’s incredibly easy to use, with display readings in 0.05-gram increments.
