Repeated viewings of Avatar on Blu-ray reveal its greatest visual asset: stunning (even if it is fake) scenery worthy of one of those David Attenborough-narrated IMAX nature shows. Most of the outdoor scenes in this movie are spectacular, but the real standout is Chapter 16, where Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and other Na'vi climb among floating mountains in search of banshees to ride. Even on the real planet Earth, one rarely sees detail and color so overwhelming. The only downside? You'll have to put more money in James Cameron's pocket to get the eventual 3D version.
