Beck recycles everything (his beats, his raps), and that includes his sonics, blending Philly soul with German space-rock and the Atari 2600. The sound has impressive depth, as lo-fi guitars lurk behind hi-rez synths. This isn't your average hard-rock production, where everything's compressed to within an inch of its life. A bonus DVD of primitive but alluring videos allows you to lip-read the lyrics for sport.
