The Futureheads have further developed their 1980s-informed postpunk chops by opening shows for Foo Fighters and the Pixies. The extra confidence — along with producer Ben Hillier's emphasis on Roy Thomas Baker-inspired block harmonies and tightly controlled arrangements — makes this second album complex beyond its modest roots. The multilayered title track is virtually art-rock. Compare that with the raw energy of the earlier material on the bonus EP, Area, and you'll hear a band morphing before your very ears.
