Huey and Riley find out that the suburbs can be a rough place for young, aspiring revolutionaries and gangstas in this boundary-pushing animated series where no racial or cultural taboo is sidestepped. Colors are bright and crisp, and there’s almost no hint of the aliasing that often plagues animated transfers. The stereo mix does a solid job of balancing the dialogue and the hip-hop soundtrack. This three-disc, 15-episode set includes a behind-the-scenes featurette, a few deleted scenes, and printable storyboards.

But the strongest extras are the seven episode commentaries featuring series creator Aaron McGruder with cast and crew. Two are also available as video commentaries (with footage of the speakers taking up half the screen), and two hilarious ones are hosted by Uncle Ruckus — Huey and Riley’s black neighbor who longs for the good ol’ days of the Jim Crow South.
