Director
Wes Craven and writer
Kevin Williamson have adapted their patented
Scream formula — contemporary, wisecracking hottie stars in cool horror-movie peril — to make this modern Wolfman retread. Unfortunately, the magic is marred by laughable special effects, especially the Tasmanian Devil-like creatures. The images — dark 2.35:1 widescreen compositions with pale neon colors — take a back seat to the coming-at-ya jolts of the Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack. Extras, including a cast-and-crew commentary and four documentaries, are like the script — strictly déjà vu.
[NR] English and French, Dolby Digital 5.1; letterboxed (2.35:1) and anamorphic widescreen; dual layer.
