IN THE LAB
Color temperature (Low setting)

High window 6,345 K
Brightness 35.7 ftL
With its Low color-temperature preset selected, the Gateway measured very close to the NTSC 6,500-K standard at both ends of the grayscale. After adjustment, the set displayed excellent grayscale linearity, tracking within ±150 K of the standard at each 10-IRE increment. Like other fixed-pixel-type sets, Gateway's plasma had perfect picture geometry. The set's white-screen uniformity was excellent, and its comb filter displayed few or no artifacts when the composite-video connection was used. Color decoder performance was very accurate. Picture overscan with video sources was approximately 4%, which is average. —A.G.
