Night's Fave 5 DVDs
The Godfather "I was blown away by the Godfather DVD, which has no menu. I was like, 'Of course. The greatest movie ever made needs no f--ing introduction.' It just starts. You sit your ass down and shut up. I love that they did that. That's classic."
Psycho "I might be getting obvious here, but . . ."
Fight Club "Isn't that the one with all the bad reviews in the booklet? Now see—that gets you into the antisocial mentality of the movie before you even watch it. You become, like, 'Yeah, man—screw you if you didn't like the movie. We love it—we bought the DVD!' If that enhances the movie, that's great. There's no way [director] David Fincher didn't have a hand in that—there's just no way. That's not some marketing guy putting that together; that's Fincher for sure. That's awesome—and that's just the packaging."
Seven "I think Seven was pretty good, but I have a few versions of it on DVD. There's a bunch of those out there."
The Exorcist "The sound on there, I got scared to death. Not the new DVD version—the original one. There's something fundamentally wrong about redoing it. I'm very old school. I get really offended by people who go and tweak a classic after 25 years. You know, don't do that."
