Hey, have you heard? On February 17, 2009, over-the-air broadcasters throughout this great land are ditching their analog signals and switching over to digital (the F.C.C. is making them do it). That means all analog (non-digital) TVs that aren’t connected to satellite dish or cable will go dark — unless you take the right steps.

Surely, this leaves you with some questions: Does this render my old CRT worthless (even on eBay)? Will a new aerial antenna solve the problem? Will everything be in high-def now? Will old, pre-HDTV shows like I Love Lucy and Star Trek become un-televisable? (Hey, stop snickering — you know at least one dork out there is wondering that.)

We know you have many more questions, and frankly we know just the guy to answer them: Sound & Vision technical editor Al Griffin. He’s teaming up with big-box store behemoth Circuit City to help bring analog-cutoff knowledge to the masses. Join him in a live chat from the Circuit City site Tuesday night, February 19, from 7:00 to 7:30 PM.

Click here now to send your questions to Al, then return to that page Tuesday night to join in the live chat.

Meanwhile, you can bring yourself up to speed on the topic by looking at a couple of classic S&V stories:
