Panasonic’s 2013 plasma lineup is spearheaded by the ZT60 series, one the company touts as having “beyond reference” picture quality. The sets incorporate a new “master studio” panel with the front glass directly attached to the panel itself, a design that eliminates the air gap layer to yield crisper images. The ZT60 series displays 30,720 gradation steps, up to 98% of DCI color space, and features a new louver filter to cut down on screen reflections.
Panasonic obviously put loads of effort into reworking its Viera Connect Smart TV interface over the past year. The ZT60 — along with the company’s VT60 and ST60 series plasmas — provides a new My Home Screen GUI that can be customized for up to five users. It also features Voice Interaction to control the TV and to search content, Swipe & Share to wirelessly transfer video, photos, and Web pages from a smartphone or tablet, and a new Touch Pad remote control. ZT60 sets also come with two pairs of Active Shutter 3D glasses.
