An array of 1 meter-deep fiberglass wedges lining the anechoic chamber’s walls soaks up reflected sound so that only direct sound emanating from a speaker is picked up by measurement microphones. (The term “anechoic” means free from echo.) As you’d expect, the chamber is eerily silent — so much so that you can hear the sound of blood rushing through your head.
