Technology has done wonders for the children’s movie industry. With the rise of Pixar came huge advances not only in computer animation, but also in the depth and scope of storytelling. Kids’ movies weren’t just for kids anymore, and adults starting paying more and more attention to the brightly-colored adventures hitting multiplexes. With that surge of interest came the wonders of Blu-ray, taking interactivity and audience participation to whole new levels. So whether you’re talking brand new releases or recently-restored nostalgia trips, these are the essentials you should be watching. With your kids. Did we mention that? Yeah, let them watch, too.
Toy Story “Toy Box” Trilogy Set
Not just one of the greatest kids’ franchises of all time, one of the best movie franchises period. Pixar set the bar ridiculously high with the first Toy Story, and they’re the only ones who’ve been able to top it. This enormous 10-disc set doesn’t feature any exclusive content, but all of the special features (and there are truckloads) are brought over from the individual releases. Gorgeous Blu-ray transfers make this a set you won’t mind being begged to pop in again and again.
