We know it's been a dying format, but alas, VHS is officially gone. It celebrated its last Christmas, toasted its last New Year. Back in October, the last truckload of VHS tapes were moved out of a warehouse in Florida, and anything remaining in the warehouse will be tossed or given away. That's it. The end of an era.

Just what you don't need...VCR in 1080P!!!

This world has enough problems without a DVD/VCR combo that upscales to 1080P. Have you actually watched a VHS tape lately on your new HDTV? As if those family videos of uncle Bob in a Speedo weren't horrifying enough, now we're going to upconvert those 220 interlaced lines to 2 million pixels? Stop...the...madness!

Panasonic DMR-BR630V -- Blu-ray Meets VHS

No, that's not a typo. The new Panasonic DMR-BR630V is a Blu-ray/DVR system with recording capabilities. It can record to either the Blu-ray or the 320GB hard drive. If you want to go slightly retro, the disc recorder will also record to DVD.
