For fans of good adult alternative rock in the Atlanta market, September 29th was a very sad day. Somewhat ironically for 9/29, 92.9 DaveFM ceased live broadcasts. For the next few weeks, it will be on autopilot as CBS gets ready to transition it to all-sports-talk radio.

Bad news for O&A fans and worse news for rock & roll fans. Longtime NYC rock station K-Rock is switching its format from Rock to Top 40, and has fired Opie & Anthony from its line-up.

Howard Stern can sigh with relief. His home on Sirius XM satellite radio is safe, at least for now. Liberty Media Corp., parent company of DirecTV, has stepped up to the plate to save the floundering radio service. In a corporate game of Six Degrees, it's interesting to note that XM was started by Hugh Panero, the brains behind DirecTV years ago.

Rumors are flying around the web that Sirius XM is about to raise their rates. Normally, you would think that's just business as usual. No problem, except that part of the FCC approval of the merger of XM and Sirius is that there wouldn't be a rate hike for at least three years.

Odd pairing indeed: Howard Stern interviewed music icon Paul McCartney on his show. Sir Paul McCartney, we should say.
Typically crude Stern said, ""[The Beatles] are more of a religion to me than any organized religion. Their music does more for my spirit and elevates me to a higher plane than any religious ceremony ever did."
