XM + Sirius = More Options

Sirius and XM may still have separate web sites, but they're rapidly merging their resources following their announced (and FCC approved) merger. Rather then painfully having to choose one service over another (or even more painfully, having to pay for both) the merger will provide the best of both worlds.

It's official. You should receive your engraved invitation to the wedding (er, merger) any day now. On Friday, with a 3-2 vote, the FCC blessed the proposed merger of satellite radio companies Sirius and XM. This is the first marriage (er, merger) for each.

It seems we might be one tiny step closer to the FCC approval needed for the merger between XM and Sirius satellite radio companies. We reported last month that it might make a June FCC agenda, and it appears that party politics are playing a role in what's coming down from the satellites.

Talk about dragging your feet. It seems like years ago that XM and Sirius proposed a merger. The Justice Department approved the merger months ago, and finally, it looks like the FCC will reach a decision by the end of June. Finally!

Squeezebox just got bigger! One of the easiest ways to listen to streaming media throughout your house just got better. Sirius is going to make over 80 of its channels available to all versions of Squeezebox.

Music for Rent

I held a garage sale recently and had hundreds of CDs on display. One of the shoppers asked me why I was dumping all my CDs. I wasn't getting rid of all my discs. I was just filtering out those that I bought for maybe a song or two (Journey's Greatest Hits, The Best of Don McLean...). I picked the tunes I wanted, shoved them into iTunes and put the discs up for sale.
