So, when it's late at night and you can't fall asleep, have you ever wondered how Netflix knows what movies to recommend to you? I know I have. Netflix has a system called Cinematch that picks movies it predicts you'll like, but Netflix wants to get better at predicting what you'll like. No, they really want to get better at it - to the tune of $1 million.

If you can possibly remember back that far, back in September 2004, it looked like TiVo and Netflix would strike a deal to stream movies to set-top boxes. It was a terrifically brilliant idea. But nothing ever came of it.

Why are Mac users always the last to get picked on the playground? Even today, there are so many apps and devices that won't run on Macs. Oddly enough, this time, it's Microsoft who's picked Mac to join their team.

We reported just a few days ago that Netflix is expecting about 500,000 subscribers, or 6% of their subscribers, to pay their Blu-ray premium.

Netflix has always had very reasonable rates, but if you want to keep getting Blu-ray Discs as part of your rental agreement, you're gonna have to pay to play. Not by much. The Blu-ray premium is only $1.00 per month.
