The MC303 is McIntosh's first-ever multi-channel amplifier with Autoformer coupled output stage technology. The MC303 is a 300-watt, three-channel power amplifier and Autoformer allows each channel to deliver maximum power into 2-, 4- or 8-ohm loads. Also onboard is Power Guard to deliver high fidelity at high power levels, and Sentry Monitor to provide short-circuit protection.

What? You thought SACD was dead? How wrong you would be. At least at the CEDIA Expo, SACD was making a strong comeback showing. Maybe higher-end installer types are presenting more demand than lowly big-box store customers. In any case, the high-end audio format is certainly alive and well on the Expo floor in Denver.

Yep, love it or hate it, Blu-ray is springing up all over. Denon showed its "affordable" player, the DVD-1800BD. This profile 1.0 version 1.1 player features HDMI 1.3a output, Deep Color and BonusView support, full bitstream output of Dolby and DTS-HD audio formats, 1080p upscaling from SD DVDs, and 2-channel analog audio output.

You remember rear-projection TVs, right? Remember how those really big screens blew away the tiny CRTs, LCD and plasma TVs? Then a funny thing happened. LCD and plasma got big too. But, they also stayed thin. Little by little, RPTV seemed old and boxy in comparison. Even worse, prices of LCD and plasma TVs starting falling — fast.
