We've all read the stories about DVD piracy, and how horrible it is, blah, blah, blah. No one we know is illegally copying DVDs, right? Wrong! A new report called the Consumer Home Piracy survey done by Futuresource Consulting had rather shocking results. A similar study was done in 2007 which allows for easy comparison of the trend.

Here's a mouthful. A team from the Institute of Multidisciplinary Research for Advanced Materials at the Tohoku University announced that they've discovered a way to increase the storage capacity of a standard DVD to 42GB. They can also multiply the storage of a CD by 9 as well. Is this a new format coming to do battle against Blu-ray?

Starting in June, DVDPlay is going to be offering Blu-ray discs right along side standard DVD in their standalone rental kiosks. They're the first rental kiosk to offer Blu-ray. You haven't seen these kiosks yet?

Don't look now, but one of the windows just got a little smaller. You know - the windows. The time lag between the theatrical release of a movie, and its other releases. How many times have you heard Uncle Ernie say, "Why the heck should I shell out thirty bucks for a movie and popcorn, when I can wait four months and rent it for ten?" Why indeed?
