A new startup with a bunch of industry veterans onboard shows off new audio entertainment consoles and Bluetooth speakers

Last night we got a chance to check out the first product offerings from AudioXperts, a new lifestyle audio brand from a bunch of industry veterans, led by Eli Harary, formerly of Boston Acoustics and Infinity. The systems we heard were voiced by John Fischbach, Grammy-winning producer of projects from Stevie Wonder, Carole King, and Cassandra Wilson, to name just a few. Safe to say that the consumers AudioXperts has in mind should be well served on both the business and sonic fronts.

Denon’s been to headphones what the Rolling Stones have been to rock: Both enjoy an unassailable reputation even though they haven’t done anything significant for a long time. I’m betting the Stones stick to that plan, but as of yesterday, Denon’s back in play with a new line of 11 headphones — plus a couple of cool new AirPlay/DLNA speakers, too.

For many years, the mantra in hi-fi design was “bigger is better.” Your system didn’t measure up unless you had a lofty stack of electronics and your speakers were tall enough to be called towers. Today, the reverse is true. It’s a post-iPod world, where smaller is cooler. The iPod also advanced the notion that electronics don’t have to be complicated; convenience is the new norm.
