G-Man — have you read Pete Townshend's autobiography, Who I Am, yet? If not, pick it up and/or load it up ASAP. Pete gets into much recording and sonic philosophy minutiae amidst all of his inner-looking angst-ola. There's plenty of good "Baba" info therein, from its Lifehouse origins to Pete's deployment of the marimba repeat feature on his Lowery Berkshire Deluxe TBO-1 organ, among other things.

When I was growing up as a wee audiophiliac laddie in Pittsburgh in the '70s, the intro to "Baba" was used as the opening theme for the evening news on Channel 53 ("For all the good times, 53!"), so that often comes to mind — whether I want it to or not — whenever I hear this song.

That said, I thought the Who totally crushed it when I saw them do "Baba" live during their encore last December 6 at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. They got their backs into this brilliant song, for sure.
