The Hobbit: An Unexpectedly High Frame Rate

I'm driving across the state to a Detroit-area theater in order to see The Hobbit at 48fps. I'm actually excited about it as I'm pretty sensitive to motion blur. You'd think that with the advent of digital projectors, all it would take is a firmware update to convert each one to play at 48fps but that seemingly isn't the case.

The few bits Ive seen involving 48fps make the image appear similiar to these high refresh rate LED TV's. Its a very uncomfortable viewing experience and makes many movies look like soap operas or video games. movement or someone walking seems very unnatural and the dynamic range seems like its really jacked way up.

Actually I believe at one time James Cameron was aiming for 60fps for his next big film.
